Slut Aus Nord Thermohaline are an aquatic, experimental black metal band that focus upon the tumult of the storm and the raging mass of the ocean through swelling electronics and fluid guitars, avoiding pirate cliches to create something unique musically and conceptually in the world of black metal.

J&S A really interesting EP (and long-distance project for that matter) build firmly on some crushing atmospheric black metal, mixing in elements of experimental synths, saws and even electronica, resulting in an engaging and thematic EP that progressively builds a rich and dark nautical atmosphere. Best listened to start-to-finish to get the full impression! One of the most original releases I've heard in some time, I'll be listening to this a lot.

Leland Sage Experimental and progressive, and with a very trippy atmosphere, this release also has some great grooves and hooks. Definitely some unique black metal, and highly recommended.

Malevolant shrieks of the drowned not even the sirens from the darkest corners of the ocean could hope to equal. Black metal riffing like the evergrowing and slowing wash of the turbulent waters.

Drums beating across galleys, commanding even the most unwilling to its rhythm.

But be aware that the Oceans harbour not just brutality but also strangeness in its floods, overthrowing any and all preconceived notions one might have of this strange entity.

As waves of water crash violently against the rocks, so too do we hope these sonic waves crash the eardrums. As unsuspected as the sudden maelstrom underneath the ship, so too do we hope you will be pulled under and suffocated in the saline waters of Thermohaline!

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! The dissonant bleakness of the first track is less weird and more hypnotic than on the second track. That's why I like it a little more. But both songs together make for an extraordinary experience and a journey to the arhythmically beating heart of darkness. mourner
